Starting Out

I started Japanese because I think that foreign languages are a useful skill (I took German in high school), and a lot of the people I grew up around spoke it.  I also want to travel a lot in the future, and fluency lends itself well to that.  I look forward to being able to read kanji competently.  I think the most challenging thing about Japanese so far has been the nuances in pronunciation.
